The Book Salon

Take Your Novel to the Next Level

What is the Book Salon?

You’ve done it! You’ve finished writing your book. Take a deep breath and pat yourself on the back because you’ve already accomplished so much! Your story has a strong beginning, middle, and end. The characters have satisfying arcs. There are even a couple scenes and dialogue exchanges that you can’t stop thinking about—you know, those days where it was really cooking.

But now what?

Is your work really ready to show to agents and publishers? Every agent seems to be asking to see “the first ten pages” on their websites, but are your first ten pages as strong as they can possibly be? Is your main character introduced in the most compelling way? Are the stakes high enough?

In short, is your book un-put-down-able enough to get that agent or publisher to request a full (meaning they want to read the entire manuscript)?

That’s where The Book Salon comes in.

The Book Salon will provide a developmental edit: a thorough read-through of the work with feedback broken down by categories, including First Ten Pages, Character, Plot, Themes, Set-Ups/Pay-offs, Favorite Scenes and Dialogue, and more.

The feedback will be roughly five to eight pages with extensive notes about both what is working well and which elements could use some tightening or clarifying. The service also includes a half-hour Zoom call to go over the notes and answer any questions.
